I started using PV to promote Museware, then moved on to creating art expression sets. Users have access to millions of images, simple & intuitive design software and become part of a huge community of creatives. I wicked love it. If you join and you're at all like me (easily distracted and slightly OCD) say goodbye to your friends and families for a while. Then, let me know so that I can check out your sets.
Watch for an article featuring my work on Polyvore in Somerset Digital Studio's March 2012 issue.
Pinterest ~ A free online program for collecting and categorizing images. Pinterest includes a gadget that allows you to collect just about any image you find, linked back to the originating site. I've created "boards" for Museware, for color, pattern, typography and more. I've also got one called Collages that is filled with my Polyvore sets. This allows me to use images of my Polyvore sets IN my Polyvore sets. That may mean nothing to you now, but when it does, you'll agree - I'm a Fricken Genius.
Tumblr ~ My newest online venture. A combination of everthing listed here, Tumblr is a blog/photo sharing/pinboard/whatever. I've just purchased a new template from Juuvy and love the look of this sharing platform. While I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my Tumblr account, I know it will be another fun diversion. Because I need another fun diversion.
Send Out Cards ~ Send personalized greeting cards from your desk. While their offering includes tons of slightly corny predesigned cards, users can upload their own images and create seriously cool, personalized cards. I've spent hours and days adding crowns and wings to cutouts of friends & family members. People who hadn't heard from me in decades started getting cards for every possible occasion. The thing about being a creative is that we are compelled to share our work. Can't be stopped.
Spoonflower ~ A company that prints your designs on fabric. Upload a single image and create repeats with their free software. Choose from a number of fabric weights. Spoonflower runs regular contests, a recent winner won her own collection with a major quilt fabric manufacturer. I have only designed a few things on this site but know that when I find time to finally fit it in my schedule, there will be room for little else.
Opinions of a Broad ~ My sadly neglected blog. Inspired by a friend's blog and subsequent fame, I started OOAB in October 2008. Thinking I'd spend a few minutes a day on it, I soon found it consuming my days and nights. I lost momentum in June 2009 but not before writing posts that continue to entertain me today. Is it PC to laugh at your own jokes? 'Cause I do. Laugh.
Our Online Catalog ~ While I'm not sure if anyone actually looks at this catalog, I still enjoy flipping through it. It was the first place I was able to present my Polyvore sets and its probably overdone. Its life expectancy is short, as I have moved on to new obsessions. Click through it while you can:
I was watching What Not to Wear recently and for a moment, thought I recognized myself in the clueless woman who stubbornly hung on to her outdated look. I've worn a daily uniform of jeans, cowboy boots, long sleeved tees and oversized scarves for - seriously, years. In an effort to expand my my fashion awareness, I decided to try creating fashion collages on Polyvore. The results are fun, artistic and influential. Yesterday, I bought a pair of black over the knee boots. Never one to practice constraint, these boots are the most outrageous things I've bought in decades. The challenge is to wear them with dignity. I'll let you know how it goes.
